This class is for Advanced Beginners who want to improve their knitting skills and complete a more advanced project. You will have the choice of making a cabled hat, a lace hat, or a colorwork hat. Topics covered include: recognizing the difference between the knit stitch and the purl stitch; how to tell if the stitches are oriented correctly on the needle; recognizing errors and how to fix them; pattern reading, abbreviations, and charts; different techniques for casting on, increasing and decreasing stitches, and binding off, and knowing when it’s best to use each one; easy lace, cables, and colorwork; seaming and finishing. Prerequisites: Students MUST already know how to cast on, knit, purl, increase, decrease, and bind off. Materials lists for each project will be available at The Cashmere Goat in Camden or from the instructor at the first meeting. Instructor Tina Casteris is a self-taught knitter who loves sharing this craft with those who desire to learn and improve in a supportive environment.
