About this event
Fresh paneer is a non-aged, acid-set cheese from Indian cuisine, made by curdling milk with an acid such as lemon juice, resulting in a mild, smooth curd that doesn’t melt, perfect for snacking or cooking. This class teaches the complete process—from boiling milk to setting, cutting, and storing paneer. It is easy to follow, budget-friendly, and ideal for daily cooking or small food businesses. Students are highly encouraged to take the Cooking: Vegetarian Paneer Tikka Masala 03.24.26 class the following week for an expanded learning experience, though each class can be taken individually. Registration fee includes all ingredients. Growing up in Gujarat, India, instructor Dee Patel learned traditional Indian home cooking recipes and techniques from her grandmother and mother. Their kitchen became her classroom where family, culture, and food came together. Upon moving Rockport, she opened Namaste Indian Food, sharing vegetarian Indian take-out dishes with the midcoast community until closing its doors last year to spend more time for her family. She's delighted to begin her seventh year teaching her authentic techniques and ingredients to the community through the hands-on, welcoming environment of adult ed.
