Intermediate embroiderers: come learn more complex stitches and advanced techniques, working with special threads and materials! Each week will introduce new stitches and techniques (RAISED CHAIN stitch with variations, SLANTED FEATHER stitch, HERRINGBONE stitch, COLOR SHADING (long and short) stitches, COUCHING, GOLD WORK, and the creation of CORDS and TASSELS), provide illustrated instructions, and include practice time and oneon-one instruction. All students will receive fabric, embroidery needles, and supplies of specialized threads. Hoops and scissors will be available for in-class use. Instructor Susan Hill will share antique and folk embroideries from her collection. Personal project questions welcomed. Instructor Susan Hill is a career visual artist; she works in graphic design, collage, and textiles, and has a special love for community arts, storytelling, and teaching/creating with others.
