About this event
Description
EVT1B – Electrical Systems AThis introductory course is the first in a two-course automotive and medium/heavy truck electrical series. Designed for students with limited or no prior experience in vehicle electrical systems, the course provides a structured foundation in electrical principles and their application to automotive and truck service environments.
Students will examine essential electrical concepts, including electrical history, basic electrical theory, magnetism, semiconductors, transistors, relays, circuit theory, circuit construction, and circuit testing. Instruction also emphasizes the proper use of multimeters, interpretation of wiring diagrams and electrical schematics, and the operation of batteries, charging systems, and starting systems.
Through classroom instruction and hands-on laboratory activities, students will develop practical skills working with wiring systems, electronic control modules, instrumentation, sensors, switches, and relays. The course prepares students to apply fundamental electrical knowledge to the diagnosis, service, and repair of modern vehicle electrical systems and establishes the foundational skills needed for success in the advanced EVT2A Electrical Systems B course.
