About this event
Description
Intro to FTC Robotics / Advanced Robotics SkillsThis program is designed for both returning FTC team members and students who are new to robotics. From now until the end of April, participants will work in a supportive, hands-on environment that builds confidence, technical skills, and teamwork.
Students who were part of FTC teams this past season will focus on advanced robotics skills, including more in-depth coding, 3D design (Solidworks) and printing, mechanical design, 3D printing and problem-solving strategies used in competition. These sessions are designed to deepen their understanding and prepare them for leadership roles in future seasons.
New students will be introduced to the fundamentals of robotics, such as basic robot building, simple programming concepts, and how FTC teams work together. The goal is to give new participants a strong foundation so they can play a meaningful and confident role on a team next year.
By the end of the program, all students will have gained valuable technical skills, hands-on experience, and a better understanding of how competitive robotics teams function.
We are also planning to attend a small, friendly competition in Canmore in mid-March, giving students a chance to experience a real FTC event.
• All materials are provided.• This workshop is suitable for beginners as well as experienced.• Instructors: Sela Bucovetsky
If you would like to register for one day only (Tuesday or Thursday), please call or visit the front desk.
Looking Ahead to the 2026/2027 FTC Season
Next year, students will take part in a full FIRST Tech Challenge season.Early in the fall, teams receive a brand-new challenge and begin designing, building, and programming a robot to solve it.
Throughout the season, students test, improve, and refine their robot before competing at official FTC competitions. Strong-performing teams can qualify for higher-level events, advancing from local competitions to regional and provincial championships. This process encourages teamwork, problem-solving, and real-world engineering skills from start to finish.
Ideally we would like to have about six students per robot.
