Regina Judo Club - Youth

Northwest • 5939 Rochdale Blvd ReginaSKCanada  S4X 2P9 Organized by YMCA Of Regina

About this event

Description

Registration will be open for youth ages seven to thirteen. Anyone can do at least some parts of Judo. There are a few different areas of Judo, the five major focuses are throws, hold-downs, supporting techniques, break falls and kata. Judo is used for fitness, body awareness, martial art combat and confidence! Judo was the first martial art to become an Olympic sport. If someone is motivated, they can do most parts of Judo, if not all!

Our sensei is Andrew Macleod. He is a 3rd degree black belt in Judo and a NCCP Level 2 certified coach. He has been training in Judo for over 30-years. For the past seven years, Andrew has been coaching under the guidance of Kim Bergey-Kaip, a NCCP Level 3 coach and 6th dan black belt and head coach of Shimura Judo Club.
If you decide to enroll in the program, you will need a Gi! Make sure it is Judo specific or at least Jujitsu if you already have one. We recommend having at least a white gi, sport compression shorts and t-shirt on top for regular class.
Registration into this program is free for all YMCA members. Additional fees will be due as part of the registration with Judo Canada and purchase of gi if required. These additional fees will be through our sensei, Andrew MacLeod.
Judo is a contact sport. If there are any underlying concerns with getting heart rate up, tumbling around, falling and getting back up, grappling with others or are prone to or are currently suffering from concussions we suggest you contact a physician to inquire about active participation in Judo
