About this event
The a-g Marine Science course will be a combination of bookwork, labs and hands-on lessons/field trips. This course requires a minimum number of participants in order to run. Textbook is required (same textbook as Fall Semester). Contact programmanager@sfbaymsi.org if you need information about textbook. Students interact with and learn about the animals that live in the San Francisco Bay Estuary and local Pacific Ocean habitats. They have the opportunity to use real scientific equipment and handle live animals. Students will work on a final project all semester. There will be weekly homework assignments. Students will have a field trip to Pillar Point (Half Moon Bay) in Week 3, and Week 8 is a Shoreside program at Marine Science Institute. There is an optional on-the-water 5-hour field trip on MSI's canoes at the end of the semester. This requires separate registration. Family members who are 5+ years old can also join (registration required).
