Wild in the Woods is an after-school program for active kids, delivered from the Kerry Wood Nature Centre and throughout Waskasoo Park.Youth will learn valuable, age-appropriate outdoor skills including fire-building and tending, foraging, shelter-building, animal tracking, hiking, winter skills, basic first aid, and staying safe when lost in the woods.On each meeting day, please ensure your child arrives dressed for the weather of the day and prepared for class. Children must wear weather-appropriate clothing and footwear—no crocs or flip flops, please. Children must bring a backpack containing a nut-free snack, water bottle, and extra clothes, as needed. The backpack will also need to fit a kleenex-box-sized gear bag that we provide.Program Term: Sept 14, 2026 – November 30, 2026 (10 sessions).Meeting Days: Mondays (no sessions on October 12, 2026 & November 9, 2026).Meeting Time: Wild in the Woods JR 4:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m., Wild in the Woods SR 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.Meeting Place: Locations vary throughout the term, this will be emailed on a monthly basis. Guardians will be emailed a Google Form to accompany and complete youth registration. Guardians will be emailed a welcome document by August 15, 2026 with detailed information on the program.
