Basic Game Design Certificate Games are increasingly recognized as tools that serve a wide range of business purposes beyond entertainment. This certificate introduces the fundamentals of designing and developing both video and analog games, with a focus on applications outside consumer entertainment. In the first course, you’ll explore core game design resources, identify key mechanics and player actions (“verbs”), and learn the activities involved in the design process. You’ll develop the skills to refine a game idea, improve its chances of success, and gain a basic understanding of how to collaborate with game developers. In the second course, you’ll learn the essentials of the video game design process, explore major game genres, and begin creating your own games using a development tool. By completing the Basic Game Design Certificate, you’ll take your first steps toward understanding game design and building your own games. The Introduction course must be completed before taking the Intermediate course. This certificate contains the following two courses.
