Adult Beginning (USTA/NTRP 1.0-2.0)
This Beginning Tennis Class is designed for adults 18 & up who are new to the game of tennis or that have had very limited instruction. This is a very fun class, where building a proper tennis foundation to optimize unlimited development and a lifetime love for the game is fostered. You will learn basic scoring, proper grips, fundamental movement and the basic stroke technique for Serve, Forehand, Backhand, Volley's and Overheads. Whether you have not played in a long time or are starting fresh, this class will be an awesome part of your tennis journey.
3.0 & above Mixers will require an NTRP or PTC Rating in order to register, so either provide your NTRP Rating by emailing PTC Coordinator Bret Bowers at bret.bowers@portlandoregon.gov or if you DO NOT have an NTRP Rating, please register online through your Portland Parks and Recreation account for one of our PTC Rating Sessions. USTA Rated players, who have a current rating, cannot be rated, unless they are "self rated" and the rating is not accurate. Cost is $5 to be rated
Note: To determine level advancement in the Adult Development process, please consult with your Certified Professional Instructor as to when you are ready to advance.
Classes held at PTC.
Please wear court shoes only, no chewing gum, food or colored drinks on court, only water.
Tennis racquets are available to borrow if needed.
To avoid over enrollments and waitlists, a cancellation fee is associated if you choose to cancel your sign up at ANY time. Canceling within 24 hours will forfeit your payment.
