Adult Advanced Beginning (USTA/NTRP 2.0-2.5)
This Advanced Beginning Tennis Class is designed for adults 18 & up who have had some instruction, feel comfortable “demonstrating” the fundamentals of Serve, Forehand, Backhand, Volley’s and Overhead, but lack the ability to change grips quickly, rally, and hit on the run. Players will really enjoy more challenging opportunities to rally, learn more advanced agility and footwork, become more comfortable with stoke preparation, stroke choice, basic ball placement and positioning for singles and doubles.
Participation in our Adult Classes allows you to participate FREE of charge in our Saturday & Sunday 2.0-2.5 mixers only, when you and your instructor feel you are ready to enjoy recreational competition.
3.0 & above Mixers require an NTRP or PTC Rating in order to register, so either provide your NTRP Rating by emailing PTC Coordinator Bret Bowers at bret.bowers@portlandoregon.gov or if you DO NOT have an NTRP Rating, please register online on Portland Tennis Bookings for one of our PTC Rating Sessions.
Note: To determine level advancement in the Adult Development process, please consult with your Certified Professional Instructor as to when you are ready to advance or if this level of play is the right fit.
Classes held at PTC.
Please wear court shoes only, no chewing gum, food or colored drinks on court, only water.
Tennis racquets are available to borrow if needed.
