About this event
Work with Light Artist Craig Wilson of Wilson Studio to learn how to make everyday spaces into glowing works of art in this hands-on family workshop exploring projection mapping, a creative technique that uses projectors to fit images, animations, and video onto real objects. We’ll practice techniques to transform walls, sculptures, and found shapes in magical and unexpected ways. Using MadMapper, families will learn the basics of mapping digital media to physical objects while discovering tips and best practices for creating eye-catching light art. Participants will also experiment with simple interactive elements like live camera input, sound-reactive visuals, and beginner-friendly controls. We’ll share inspiring examples of mobile projection setups and creative ways to bring light art anywhere, from rooftops and backyards to parks and forests. Designed for families with kids ages 7+, this collaborative workshop encourages curiosity, teamwork, and playful experimentation as families create, test, and transform spaces together. Why join? This workshop invites families to explore creativity and technology side by side, using light, motion, and teamwork to reimagine the spaces around them. Each family group must include at least one adult and one child, add additional adults for $10, additional children for $5 each.
