About this event
In the world of boatbuilding and repair, epoxy has become the go-to magic goo for everything from gluing to fairing, fiberglassing, and even fixing that oops. But for the uninitiated, epoxy can seem unpredictable, part science experiment, part art project, and overwhelmingly sticky. This one-day intensive is here to demystify the process. We’ll dive into the wide world of epoxy products and their uses, showing you how to prep surfaces properly, mix without making a mess (or a rock-hard coffee cup), and apply epoxy the easy way. You’ll get hands-on experience with fiberglass and fiberglass repair, making strong adhesive bonds, sculpting fillets (not the fish kind), and creating smooth, sandable fairing mixes. We’ll also cover cleanup and safety, because nobody wants to leave with epoxy fingerprints. Expect a day packed with practical demonstrations, helpful tips, and the occasional laugh about why you should have taken this class last year. Whether you’re building a new boat in the shop or breathing life into an old vessel, this class will give you the knowledge and confidence to make epoxy your new best friend. Bring your questions, curiosity, and maybe a shirt you’re not too attached to. Students under 18 who want to participate must be accompanied by a chaperone. Youth accompanied by a chaperone only need to pay one tuition fee.
