Derived from a desire to simplify the process of building boats with kids, the Boatshop crew collaborated with local designer Brandon Davis of Turnpoint Design to introduce a boat and build process that is simple yet elegant. The result: the Point Hudson Dory. This 12-foot Dory is the culmination of a quest to meld simplicity in construction with a lightweight, function-driven boat that also looks nice. The boat offers a stable platform for learning to row, has the carrying capacity to accommodate two adults, and is easily converted to sail. The Dory is built in marine plywood with hardwood batten reinforcement—a build style that eliminates the need for epoxy and fiberglass, thus maintaining its simplicity in assembly. Whether you are building for yourself, with your family, or with friends, this is a great introduction to boatbuilding for all ages.
