Join us for a three-day immersive workshop where you'll craft your own wooden canoe paddle, SUP paddle, or oar from raw lumber using traditional hand tools and time-tested techniques. Perfect for beginners and aspiring woodworkers, this hands-on class will introduce you to foundational skills in shaping, carving, and finishing wood. You'll learn about wood selection, grain orientation, paddle design, and finishing techniques while using tools such as spokeshaves, drawknives, hand planes, rasps, and sanding blocks to transform a rough blank into a functional, beautiful paddle. No prior experience is needed. All necessary tools will be provided, though students are encouraged to bring their own favorite hand tools, especially spokeshaves and drawknives. By the end of the workshop, you'll leave with a handcrafted paddle and new woodworking skills you can carry into future boatbuilding and woodworking projects.
