This weekend course will be a deep dive into essential joinery techniques and applications, and the use of hand tools to effectively create strong and useful connections in solid wood. By the end of the weekend, we think you will be convinced that not only are these joints doable by hand, but hand work can offer a faster approach when doing a one-off piece of furniture. Through practice and demonstrations, we will cover an increasingly complex selection of joints. The focus will be on skill building through practice and feedback in a supportive environment. Sharpening and tuning chisels and planes will be touched on but not a focus of this course. Required Tools: Personal protective equipment Pencil Paper or notepad Close-toed shoes Prerequisites Bring enthusiasm and an open mind. This class is designed for complete novices up through experienced woodworkers who would like to tune up their skills.
