The Grand Canyon University Women’s Lacrosse program has continued to blaze a trail for other teams to follow in each of their five years. After competing successfully for three seasons at the DII level, the Lopes were unanimously voted to be a part of the Division I South Conference in the Western Women’s Lacrosse League (WWLL) for 2018. The WWLL is one of many leagues nationwide that competes under the Women’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association (WCLA). GCU Women's Lacrosse offers students the opportunity to experience collegiate student-athlete life while still allowing them the time they need to fully focus on their academic journey. The GCU Women’s Lacrosse team plays preseason games throughout the fall to prepare for a full regular season schedule in the spring. The team travels to California twice a year to participate in league games and tournaments open to colleges across the nation. The Lopes completed their third season on the DI level in 2019-20 with impressive wins over Arizona State University and UC-Davis while nearly reaching the postseason. The Lopes also took home the WWLL D2 Championship in 2016 and reached the WCLA Division 2 national semifinals in both 2016 and 2017.
