EAST ASIA EXPLORATION: Konnichiwa and Annyeong-haseyo! Embark on an exciting journey across the sea to discover the vibrant traditions of Japan and South Korea. This immersive class invites students to explore the unique languages, arts, and flavors of these two influential neighbors. Students will be introduced to writing scripts and will practice traditional calligraphy. Dive into the history of manga, anime and K-pop to design original characters, discuss Hayao Miyazaki's celebrated Ghibli Studio movies, and to celebrate the music of popular K-pop songs. A virtual passport tour of Japan and Korea will highlight major landmarks, from ancient temples and palaces to the neon lights. We will have cooking days where students will make their own sushi onigiri and try mochi and kimchi more!
