Discovery Camp combines traditional, fun-focused, summer-oriented camp activities with cutting-edge workshops designed to develop skills in specific areas of interest, such as coding, sports, drama, cooking, painting, music, and much more. In addition to daily swims and two daily workshops, campers will participate in weekly theme-related field trips. The theme for week three is: Exploring Imagination through the Arts: This week we will explore how artists, architects, and authors take their fantastical ideas and transform them into artistic masterpieces, iconic buildings, and literary classics. Following the campers’ interests, we will explore iconic masterpieces by the cave painters of Lascaux, Michaelangelo, Picasso and Matisse; archetypal structures such as the Great Pyramids, cathedrals, Philip Johnson’s Glass House, and Zaha Hadid’s Beijing airport; and the unforgettable fantasy worlds of Middle Earth, Narnia, Atlantis, Oz, and even the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Campers will have fun making murals, building models, designing maps of our own fantastic realms!
