Description
Shorin-Karate: Traditional Okinawan Karate Introduction to traditional Okinawan Style, Shorin Ryu Karate. Classes are geared to beginner with focus on physical conditioning, discipline, nomenclature, and elementary karate skills, such as blocking, punches, kicks, and stances. Other aspects of the class touch on basic Japanese words, counting, history, philosophy and the concepts of respect and personal responsibility. Beginners or White Belts are introduced to the first three basic Kata's or forms as they are known and upon promotion become Yellow Belts. As Yellow Belts they are introduced to the next three Kata's/Forms and upon promotion they become Orange Belts and so it goes. This introduction class gives the students a good foundation for advancement and further study of the more complex movements as introduced in our intermediate and advanced classes. Our beginning classes are offered, Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 4PM to 5PM. Young children need to be able to follow direction during the course of the hour, focus, and participate. Your Karate uniform (GI) is included with your first monthly class payment. A separate $50 annual family dues fee is also due; it is paid separately to Shorin Ryu Karate. The fee is a family fee, one fee per family, per year. Please pass your fee by check or cash to either Ted or Arnold, our two head instructors.
