Groups of homeschooled students and their parents have been visiting the Edward C. Levy Co. mining operation on Ray Rd. in Oxford Township. Each group is treated to a fascinating behind-the-berms tour of the 1,100-acre site. The tour is both educational and entertaining. The highlight is climbing aboard a floating clamshell (or grab) dredge named “Centennial." Every time, the clamshell is raised, it brings approximately 25 tons of material with it. Photos by C.J. Proper attire is a crucial to ensure our guests have the best and safest experience possible. All attendees must wear closed-toe footwear (no Crocs). We recommend boots as conditions may be muddy and/or there may be uneven walkways. EDW Levy require long pants for all attendees. The two forms must be completed by each attendee and give to Ms. Suzie prior to the event to be brought to the site the day of the tour. The estimated schedule is as follows: Students and grown-ups arrive at 9:30am to 275 Ray Road, Oxford Upon arrival, please keep to the right and park in the parking lot on the right-hand side Outfit everyone in safety gear (we will provide the gear) Load onto the bus and tour the site ~11:30am return for lunch and equipment experience ~1:00pm depart
