On an ideal vacation with the family you'd go hiking, biking, and maybe even fishing and swimming. Stay at one of the best RV parks for families and you can do all that plus relax at a spacious, comfortable campsite.

Spring Drive RV Campground

Oregon

This Pacific Northwest campground is located in Mount Hood National Park, which makes the area feel secluded, while offering a number of short hiking trails, many of which lead you to small mountain lakes and streams. Watch for deer and other small wildlife running between the tall pines and firs. Though there's no bathroom or drinking water back at the campground, the RV spots are equipped with full hookups.

Old Chatham Road RV Resort

Massachusetts

This campground sits in the heart of Cape Cod just two miles from the ocean. You'll feel secluded in the wooded area that surrounds your campsite. Two swimming pools and basketball and tennis courts provide activities for the kids without going to the beach or traveling to nearby Martha's Vineyard--though the location of this RV park makes it possible to do all of those things.

Wheeler Gorge

California

Explore Los Padres National Forest when you stay at this RV-friendly campground. Enroll your children in the educational programs offered, in both summer and winter, and be sure to head into the woods for an afternoon hike. For great views and a short trek, head to the Wheeler Gorge Nature Trail, which begins in the campground. This kid-friendly loop travels along a babbling creek and offers scenic snapshots of the area.

Cagle Recreation Area

Texas

Located on the shores of Lake Conroe, this RV park offers plenty of activities, making it one of the best RV campgrounds for families. The lake offers 22,000 acres for fishing, and shoreline trails provide plenty of scenic stopping points on your afternoon hike. The 2-mile Cagle Trail is for both bikers and hikers and you can hop on the Lone Star Hiking Trail for a longer day of trekking around the lake. Full hookups at the campsite, along with flush toilets and hot showers ensure you'll be comfortable for the duration of your stay.

Cannon Mountain RV Park

New Hampshire

This small 7-site campground is one of the best RV parks for families because it's secluded. Not to mention, Franconia Notch State Park provides a number of opportunities for hiking, biking swimming, and fishing. Try the Franconia Notch Recreation Trail or head to Bald Mountain and Artists Bluff from the trailhead within the park. Bring a comfortable chair to the shores of nearby Echo Lake for a waterfront sunset before you enjoy an evening of s'mores and ghost stories around the fire.

Tally Lake Campground

Montana

Whether you bike, hike, or ride a horse, there's a place for you to trek around this RV park, which is located within Flathead National Forest. The deepest natural lake in Montana is located here, where you can boat, swim, and fish as a family. Lakeside campsites provide easy access to the water.

Watchman Campground

Utah

Located just within the entrance of Zion National Park, this year-round campground is the ideal place for families to stay when exploring in the area. Take your family on the Watchman Trail or the Archeology Trail to explore the nearby area, or grab your bikes and coast down the Pa'rus Trail, which is paved and runs along the river. Note: only RV's smaller than 19 feet are allowed in this park.

Grayton Beach State Park

Florida

With so many of the best RV parks located in the coastal state of Florida, it can be hard to decide which one is ideal for your family. Grayton Beach State Park is worth considering. Surfing, fishing, hiking and educational opportunities can all be found with a few minutes of your campsite. Start your day with a stroll along the Grayton Beach Nature Trail, head to the shores of Western Lake for early afternoon fishing, and then finish the day with a shoreline sunset.
