How do artists create the memorable characters behind our favorite animated films, video games, graphic novels, and picture books? In this two-day intensive, students will explore the fundamentals of character design and learn how visual choices can communicate a character's personality and story. Students will develop an original character, exploring the process from initial concept to finished design, and create a character turnaround sheet to include in their art portfolio. Perfect for aspiring animators, game designers, illustrators, and storytellers who love bringing characters to life. No professional experience is necessary—just a passion for drawing and storytelling! About the Instructor: Jo Carillo is a published children's book author and illustrator and fine artist working across traditional mediums, including watercolor and ink, as well as digital illustration. All art materials are provided. Please bring a snack for a short break during each class.
