Description

This course focuses on writing comedy for satirical news segments in the style of “Weekend Update.” Students write jokes, headlines, and short desk commentary. Designed specifically for non-professional writers, this class is informative, supportive, and hands-on. The class blends instruction, viewing and analysis of professional examples, writing time, collaboration, performance, and studio production. Students will experience how comedy moves from idea → page → performance → camera, and will leave each course with written material and recorded video content suitable for personal portfolios. The instructor or a local comedian/actor performs the material as a news anchor on camera. All filming will take place at TC Media studios, offering students exposure to studio workflows in an accessible, low-pressure environment. Instructor TC Media Staff.
