Description

Americana is a broadly encompassing genre that includes the American songbook, country crossover, standards, blues, and variations thereof. So it’ll be quite a diverse and eclectic group of songs that we’ll take on in this evolving beginner level ukulele class. While we’ll cover a couple of newer Americana gems of the past few years, the emphasis will be on all time folk and country infused tunes like “Me And Bobby McGhee”, “Angel From Mongomery,” “Mr. Bojangles,” American Pie,” “Diamonds And Rust,” “Country Roads,” and “The Weight.” But the class will kick off with some super simple classics like “This Land Is Your Land,” “Ain’t She Sweet,” “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry,” etc. Pre-requisite: An introduction to ukulele class such as Yes You Can Play The Ukulele Part 1 or similar beginner level class, is suggested. But at the very least, you’ll need to know at least 6 basic chords (major, minor, 7th) and be able to transition among them. Please bring your soprano, concert, or tenor ukulele (no baritone ukes, please, as they're tuned much differently) a guitar or ukulele pick and a ukulele capo (which can be purchased online or at local music stores for around $15).
