About this event

Description

Join us for a contemplative retreat starting on the beautiful land at ONE and then on waters of the South Salish Sea in the afternoon. We’ll begin the day practicing Shinrin Yoku lead by Certified Forest Therapy Guide and Mindfulness teacher, Brenda Butterfield. Shinrin yoku is the simple practice of receiving healing medicine from nature through your 5 senses. Our forest therapy walks are gentle, slow, and dappled with mindful invitations guiding you into ease of body, mind and soul. As the day unfolds, we’ll experience contemplative sea kayaking in Gallagher Cove and Totten Inlet. Our mindfulness trained guides invite you to practice non-striving by letting go to feel the natural rhythm of sea. The pace throughout will be gentle and spacious, meditative. Through awareness of breath and body movement, you might even feel the gentle rocking of the sea, settling your nervous system. We’ll paddle together in a supportive, welcoming group, creating space for quiet reflection as well as warm conversation and connection with the human and more than human world too. No prior mindfulness or kayaking experience required, just a willingness to slow down and share the day together. Thorough instruction focused on safety and all necessary equipment provided.
