About this event

Description

Join us for a contemplative retreat starting on the beautiful land at The ONE Center in the morning and then on the South Salish Sea in the afternoon. The pace throughout will be gentle, spacious, and meditative to help you arrive more fully, feel grounded, peaceful and calm. We’ll begin the day practicing Shinrin Yoku lead by Certified Forest Therapy Guide and Mindfulness teacher, Brenda Butterfield. Shinrin yoku is the simple practice of receiving healing medicine from nature through the senses. The day is dappled with mindful invitations guiding you into ease of body, mind and soul with afternoon contemplative sea kayaking in Gallagher Cove and Totten Inlet. We’ll paddle quietly together creating space for quiet reflection as well as warm conversation and connection with each other noticing harbor seal, bald eagles, osprey, blue herons, jelly fish and other more than human friends. Practicing non-striving, we will let go to be present with the gentle rocking of the sea to settle your nervous system, and maybe even meditate on the water. The day will close with a tea ceremony made from nature’s gifts at ONE. No prior mindfulness or kayaking experience required, just a willingness to slow down, be present, and let the day unfold together. Thorough instruction focused on safety and all necessary equipment provided.
