Can you spot an Oak or a Maple without leaves? Do you know the difference between Maine's native conifers? How is a white pine's pinecone different from a pitch pine pinecone? Who is living on and in our trees during the winter? This walk on the beautiful Wabanaki land at Clifford Park will welcome winter while helping our eyes tune in to all the interesting and unique beings of the forest. Wear comfortable shoes or boots and weather-appropriate clothing. Walk begins promptly at 10am. Note: Please communicate any accessibility concerns at registration, and Laura will contact you to discuss. This trail unfortunately is not wheelchair accessible and has a fairly steep incline at the start. Registration closes at noon on 12/11. Laura Grover is a Maine Master Naturalist, botanical illustrator for Fedco Seeds, and an ambassador for all the "little guys" in nature. She has led many plant, tree, vernal pool, and bird walks for people of all ages. Laura enjoys bringing people together to look closely in nature, practice mindfulness outside, and be a sensory animal in the woods.
