When it comes to hydration, Samuels says typically Gatorade (or a similar product) is provided on full marathon courses, and is both a hydration and fueling source.
"Gatorade Endurance has extra sodium to help replace sodium losses that athletes experience while sweating during long-course running events. Generally speaking, the more an athlete sweats, the more sodium losses they experience, so using a product with extra sodium added is beneficial," she says.
So, for those of you who have posted your training schedule to your fridge, be sure to post your fueling schedule, as well. This way, when race day comes, your performance can be your best.
