Curried Turkey Burgers With Mint Chutney

Serve your burgers bunless, perhaps accompanied by a nice green salad. Or, feel free to tuck them into pita pockets or wrap them in fresh naan.

Ingredients

  • 1 red onion, finely chopped, divided
  • 1 handful fresh cilantro leaves, chopped, divided
  • 4 cloves garlic, chopped, divided
  • 1 handful fresh mint leaves, chopped
  • 2 tsp honey
  • 2 tsp (more/less to taste) Asian chili sauce
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 lb lean ground turkey
  • 1/8 cup nonfat Greek yogurt
  • 1 tbsp curry powder
  • 1/8 cup fresh bread crumbs
  • olive oil (for grill/pan)

Preparation

Place 1/2 of the onion, 1/2 of the cilantro, 1/2 of the garlic, the mint, the honey, the chili sauce and a generous pinch each of salt and pepper in a food processor or blender. Add 2 to 3 tbsp water and puree until a thick sauce is formed (adding a bit more water if necessary). Set aside.

Combine the remaining onion, cilantro and garlic with the turkey, yogurt, bread crumbs and curry powder. Add liberal pinches of salt and pepper and mix well.

Form the mixture into four patties.

Heat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat and brush lightly with olive oil. Grill the burgers for 6 to 7 minutes on each side

Serve bunless or in pita pockets, topped with the chutney.
