This two-day workshop teaches how to create loose, expressive painted portraits. On day one, we’ll study facial features, explore key concepts through lecture and demonstration, and begin developing a portrait. Day two emphasizes hands-on practice, refining more fully realized portraits. Exercises may focus on individual facial elements to build confidence and skill. Participants will leave with a stronger understanding of structure, technique and expressive portrait painting. This class welcomes new students and provides an in-depth exploration of a loose and lively style for students who have participated in previous classes with the instructor. Artists may draw or paint either day.
