Plein Air Painting Workshop for ages 16+ This class will meet at the Northville Art House and at Kensington Metro Park June 2-5 Day: Tuesday-Friday Times: Tuesday, June 2: 10:00 am - 12:00 pm Wednesday, June 3 - Friday, June 5: 9:00 am - 3:30 pm each day 1-day workshop: (M) $170; (NM) $187 Students bring supplies (.pdf list available online) En Plein Air, is a French term, meaning painting in the open air. It is a wonderful way to develop your sense of color through natural light, movement and atmosphere, that you only experience outside in nature. The Impressionists used this method to truly experience expressive color. Starting at the Art House, I will demonstrate the proper set up and use of equipment for plein air painting, along with a live demonstrations of plein air painting. Many tips to improve your painting experience will be shared. Students will have time to plein air paint in Northvillle with the wonderful historic homes and cemetery. Then we will be traveling to scenic Kensington Park to paint. Each day we will have an outdoor lunch with a quick critique. Students are responsible for obtaining their own Kensington Park pass before the first day of class begins. Demonstrations of plein air painting will be done in oil. Other mediums are welcome and will be assisted. (Watercolor, Pastel, Acrylic, Water soluble oils) Students must have some prior experience with their medium.
