This workshop focusses on the digital image processing skills that I’ve needed to help with my traditional art practice. I will demonstrate using Affinity photo (very similar to photoshop) how I make the reference images that I have used in my previous classes. This will include a lot of basic tricks for image manipulation and all the adjustments that are worth knowing. As well, we will look at how I archive my original artwork and how I prepare images for printing. This workshop is for anyone who has Affinity photo or is planning to get it for the first time. Prior to the workshop, please be sure to have Affinity photo successfully downloaded on your device (laptop, iPad or tablet). I will be demonstrating from my laptop. Tablet and iPad workflow is slightly different but the same tools can be found in the program. Note: there are plenty of videos on youtube to help with the very first steps of downloading Affinity photo on your device. Steve Chmilar is one of Canada’s foremost New Contemporary painters. Since his debut show at the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria in 2011, he has painted full-time by selling his work internationally to private collectors. Supplies List: All that is required for this class is a portable computer - laptop or iPad with any version of Affinity photo already uploaded. As well, if you have any digital image files that you are already working with, have them stored in your device. Otherwise, the same image can be provided that I will use to demonstrate with. If you have a camera (smart phone is enough) we can also look at uploading an image from scratch.
