About this event
Instructor: Steve Anderson This “Basic Blacksmithing” course is dedicated to the late Richard (Dick) Tessier. Dick was a tireless promoter of education and passionate about keeping this ancient craft alive and well. He is missed. In this introductory course explore the basics of the blacksmithing trade. Learn everything from wearing safety clothes to building and managing a coal fire. Learn what tools are needed to bend, twist, punch, drift, and forge shoulders. After watching demonstrations of specific blacksmithing techniques and tool use, students will be provided practice time. There is a $12.00 fee for materials and fuel which will be paid to the instructor on Saturday. Day 1: Saturday, 10/3/26 Time: 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (bring own lunch) Day 2: Sunday, 10/4/26 Time: 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
