3 Wednesdays, Aug 5, 19, and 26, 12:30-2:30pm Make a Scrappy Doll (for adults) Taught by Jodi Morello, ages 18+ Slow down and enjoy the process of making something truly special. In this three-week class, adult students will create a handmade scrappy doll from start to finish while learning foundational sewing techniques along the way. All materials are provided, and you’ll leave with a beautifully crafted keepsake—perfect as a gift or a personal heirloom. No prior experience required. Students should bring their own sewing machine if they want to use one (optional). Hand sewing techniques will be covered. The Newark Arts Alliance will retain a $5 cancellation fee if a student withdraws from a class. Jodi knew by the age of five that she wanted to be an artist. Recently, a member of NYC’s fiber arts community commissioned Jodi to weave a tapestry of Pearl Chin, who started the business Knitty City on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. A shot of this work appears in an award-winning film, “Summer At Knitty City.” She sold her first tapestry, “Medusa”, to a curious art lover on Facebook.
