Sunday, February 8, 3:30-5:30pm Pressed Botanicals Workshop Taught by Maria Campos Vera, 18+ $67 Members / $73 Non-member Create a one-of-a-kind piece of botanical wall art using dried and preserved florals suspended within an 11” x 14” wooden frame. In this hands-on workshop, students will explore composition, depth, and dimension while learning how to balance color, texture, and negative space using principles of the color wheel. Along the way, we’ll discuss floral preservation techniques and design choices that allow natural materials to feel both timeless and contemporary—resulting in a finished piece that captures a moment of nature, held gently in place. Material fee is INCLUDED in the class price listed here. The Newark Arts Alliance will retain a $5 cancellation fee if a student withdraws from a class. TEACHING ARTIST BIO: Maria's passion for horticulture and floral artistry began ten years ago. What started as a gardening hobby soon flourished into a fulfilling career and a way to share joy with others. Today, Maria owns a local floral studio known for wedding/event florals, bouquets, and preserved décor. Her artistic flair and dedication to quality attract clients seeking unique floral designs. With 15 years of preschool teaching in her background, Maria blends practical experience with an imaginative teaching style. Her approach resonates with students, encouraging artistic expression across all ages. Maria aims to inspire students to discover their artistic voices and confidently bring their floral visions to life. Her classes emphasize creativity and self-expression. She loves to bring humor into her classroom and make her students feel heard and supported.
