About this event
1 Monday, March 10, 12:00 - 4:00 pm Stained Glass: Flowers, Butterflies, & Mushrooms for Spring Taught by Maureen Coughlan $63 Member / $70 Non-member Students will choose 1 of the 3 patterns. You will learn the "Tiffany" style of foiling glass pieces and soldering them together. (The pieces will be pre-cut and ground to smooth the edges.) After applying patina to darken the solder, we will apply polish so they are protected and shiny. Everyone will bring home a finished suncatcher to enjoy for years. It is very important to sign up at least 2 weeks before the class so Maureen can call you and discuss the colors you want to use. The pictures are only examples and if I have the glass color we can change it to what you want. - Maureen took a class in 2004 to make a simple glass suncatcher and she hasn't stopped yet. In those 21 years she has created from simple to complicated stained glass pieces including lamps, panels, suncatchers, and wind chimes. About 10 years ago she taught herself the techniques of fusing glass using her kiln. This passion for making glass creations continues in her retirement years. She is an exhibiting artist at the Newark Arts Alliance.
