About this event
Learn how to paint with light to make unique images. Experience required- Requirements - Beginning photography helpful , but not required. Class requirements- Digital SLR or mirrorless camera with interchangeable normal zoom lens. There will be a loaner camera available for the class, so if you do not mind waiting a turn no camera is required. Extra battery or battery charger. Tripod- ( however I do have a number of these to loan but helpful if you have one ) Class 1 We will - learn a little about the history of light painting…. and the modern LED based tools purchased AS IS and those easily made/ modified by users. You will learn some of the fundamentals of light in terms of art and imaging such as the difference between hard and soft light. We will learn to make simple camera settings to allow for the 15-30 second exposures to capture our images. In the first class we will use simple light painting tools to photograph a still life. 2nd class : In the second class we will use both electronic flash and light painting tools to photograph a live figure model. Please note : we will be working in near darkness during the actual painting process. 3rd class - processing the images There will be also be a follow up class. Students can submit their images to me and I will show them how to process them in Adobe Photoshop and LightRoom Classic. What the class is not- we will mostly not be using the light painting tools to draw pictures in the air- these tools will be used to uniquely light physical objects and bring out aspects of form.
