Join us in our 4 week understanding glaze class designed to demystify the glaze process!  Through extensive testing, students will gain an understanding of the many techniques available throughout the glaze process, while also developing a visual archive to reference in future work. The core project during this class is an investigation of a glaze of the students choosing and testing a triaxial blend of that glaze. This course is open to all skill levels. Come explore and learn as Reid shares his passion and knowledge for the ceramic arts and guides students through the art of glazing. This class can be taken more than once and all are welcome to join the fun and get their hands dirty! Core Course Topics: 1) Introduction to glaze testing 2) Learn the process for understanding and researching glaze. 3) What is glaze? Develop a basic understanding of the material breakdown in glazes through class lectures and testing. Apply glazes on a series of ceramic test pieces. 4) Glaze blending, Employ methods for blending multiple glazes to achieve more nuanced surfaces.
