About this event
Explore the human figure through the expressive possibilities of ceramic sculpture. This class focuses on figurative abstraction, encouraging students to move beyond traditional representation by simplifying, distorting, exaggerating, and reinterpreting the body. Working from images of figure and anatomical observation, students will investigate gesture, proportion, mass, negative space, surface, and texture while developing their own visual language. Through demonstrations, drawing, observation, and hands-on studio work, students will explore methods for constructing, joining, hollowing, refining, and finishing figurative ceramic forms. Projects will emphasize the expressive potential of the figure rather than anatomical accuracy, giving students the opportunity to develop increasingly personal and abstract interpretations of the human body. All levels welcome. Supplies: There is a $50 fee for materials, i.e., clay, tools, and glazes Prerequisites: none
