About this event
Adult ceramics class, two sessions total. No experience necessary — all skill levels welcome. Using the slab building method, you will build a functional ceramic form from scratch — shaping, carving, and personalizing your piece before adding rich color with underglazes. Whether you leave with a trinket dish, paint palette, compartment tray, or serving vessel, every piece is one of a kind. Once the workshop wraps, your creations will be glazed and kiln fired, making them durable enough for everyday use. Pieces will be ready for pickup within two weeks. MEET THE TEACHER: FAITH MCCASLIN-GROSSNICKLAUS (she/her) is a working artist and musician in New Orleans. She got her start working alongside her ceramicist parents at Bell Pine Art Farm in Oregon. Drawing inspiration from folklore, the works of Georgia O'Keeffe, and the flora and fauna of the Pacific Northwest, she quickly developed her own distinct style under the moniker Bone China Designs. She began studying traditional Scottish fiddle at age 7 before attending the Academy of Arts and Academics in Springfield, Oregon, where she learned to integrate her different fields of interest, combining ceramics and costuming with theatrical musical performance. For the last 12 years she has travelled the country and abroad presenting her ceramic work and performing solo or in the band Roselit Bone.
