About this event
This introductory drawing course develops visual awareness and perceptual skills through direct observation of rectilinear and organic forms. Students learn the fundamental concepts and techniques necessary to translate three-dimensional objects onto a two-dimensional surface with accuracy and confidence. Emphasis is placed on line, shape, volume, cross-contour, proportion, perspective, light and shadow, composition, and spatial relationships. Students also explore the fundamentals of pictorial space, aesthetics, content, and draftsmanship while working from still life and natural forms using pencil and charcoal. The course provides a strong foundation for accurately drawing perspective and developing observational drawing skills.
