In this creative, teacher-guided and student-led workshop, students grades 3- 5th will be hands-on in creating their own made-up worlds. They will use drawing, storytelling, imagination, and AI tools to begin designing their own fictional worlds and the characters that live in them. Whether it is a floating city, a talking-animal village, or a magical island, students will bring their ideas to life through fun, creative activities led by a supportive teacher. Designed especially for younger learners, the workshop supports a range of expression, from budding writers to passionate artists, with opportunities for group work, sharing, and harnessing their creativity. The use of AI will be modeled by the teacher and students are encouraged to work in pairs, or by themselves if they are comfortable with typing and reading on a computer. The course is designed to be inclusive, allowing students to express themselves in whatever is most natural. Students of all abilities and learning styles are welcomed and supported through teacher and tech supports. As part of the creative process, students will also learn a little about how AI works, and why it is important to use it thoughtfully. We will talk about howAI can help spark ideas, what it sometimes gets wrong, and how using technology also uses real-world energy. Students will come away feeling proud of their creativity, their collaboration, and their awareness of how imagination and technology can work hand in hand. Instructor: Rachel Privett, M.Ed. is a PhD student in Educational Psychology with a background in encouraging creative design, teaching & tutoring, and creating inclusive educational spaces. She has worked with homeschoolers and neurodiverse learners across ages, designing student-centered lessons that blend creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking. **All workshops include a break for lunch and free time with friends.
