Empower: A Trauma-Informed Communication Series is a practical training series designed to help professionals in healthcare, and social services engage in effective, compassionate communication with individuals affected by trauma. Grounded in trauma-informed principles—safety, trust, collaboration, empowerment, and cultural sensitivity—this course provides actionable strategies for handling complex interactions across diverse scenarios. Topics include foundational trauma-informed care, vicarious trauma, motivational interviewing, conflict resolution, suicide prevention, domestic violence, abuse, human trafficking, and risk reduction. Vanderbilt University School of Nursing is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. To receive credit, participants must complete the entire training and all required components. Successful completion will result in the awarding of 4 ANCC contact hours.
