About this event
Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic, inflammatory skin condition that can be challenging to diagnose and manage, often resulting in significant patient burden. This self-paced e-learning module provides healthcare professionals with a practical introduction to the recognition, staging, diagnosis, and management of HS. Learners will explore its clinical presentation, epidemiology, pathogenesis, and associated comorbidities, while developing the skills needed to differentiate HS from other conditions with similar features. The course reviews evidence-based diagnostic approaches, severity-based treatment options including topical, systemic, and procedural therapies, and important considerations for special populations such as pediatrics and pregnancy. Designed for nurses, nurse practitioners, physician associates, and other healthcare professionals, this module builds confidence in delivering timely, effective, and patient-centered care for individuals with hidradenitis suppurativa. Vanderbilt University School of Nursing is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) Commission on Accreditation. To earn continuing education credit, participants must complete the entire module and achieve a score of 80% or higher on the post-quiz. Upon successful completion, learners will be awarded 0.5 ANCC contact hours.
