About this event
Fungal skin and nail infections are among the most frequently encountered conditions in clinical practice, requiring accurate assessment to ensure appropriate treatment and avoid misdiagnosis. This self-paced e-learning module provides healthcare professionals with a practical introduction to the recognition, diagnosis, and management of common fungal infections. Learners will explore the clinical differences between dermatophyte and yeast infections and identify key presentations such as tinea corporis, tinea versicolor, and onychomycosis across diverse patient populations. The course also reviews evidence-based diagnostic methods, including clinical evaluation and KOH preparation, and supports effective, tailored treatment selection based on infection type and severity. Designed for nurses, nurse practitioners, physician associates, and other healthcare professionals, this module strengthens confidence in managing fungal infections in everyday clinical settings. Vanderbilt University School of Nursing is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) Commission on Accreditation. To earn continuing education credit, participants must complete the entire module and achieve a score of 80% or higher on the post-quiz. Upon successful completion, learners will be awarded 0.5 ANCC contact hours.
