Healthcare leadership today requires more than operational oversight—it demands the courage to challenge assumptions, advocate for patients and staff, and lead change in complex, high-pressure environments. This e-learning module, Bold by Design: Courageous Leadership for Nurse Leaders, explores courageous leadership as a practical and learnable competency rooted in ethical decision-making, equity, and systems thinking. Learners will examine how courage shows up in everyday leadership through bias awareness, inclusive team development, and principled action during change. The course provides strategies to foster psychological safety, empower diverse voices, and sustain compassionate yet decisive leadership in challenging situations. Designed for nurse leaders across all levels, this module strengthens the ability to lead with integrity, resilience, and purpose. Vanderbilt University School of Nursing is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) Commission on Accreditation. To earn continuing education credit, participants must complete both the Nurse Leader pre-assessment and post-assessment. Upon successful completion, learners will be awarded 1.0 ANCC contact hours.
