About this event
This exclusive experience is led by Lead Auto Mechanic Ray of Chicago’s Mechanista, who also serves as a mentor, empowering individuals through car education and helping others build confidence through hands-on learning. During this workshop, Girl Scouts will learn real-world car care and safety skills, including: • Understanding dashboard warning lights • Checking important car fluids • Tire care and tire pressure • Brake and vehicle safety basics • What to do during a roadside emergency • Practical tips to help you feel more confident and prepared This experience also offers Girl Scouts the chance to connect with a professional mechanic, ask questions about automotive careers, and gain insight into working in the field. No matter where you are in your driving journey, this workshop is for you! Whether you are gearing up for Driver’s Ed, currently practicing with your permit, already have your license, or even prefer taking public transportation, these are real-life skills that can come in handy when you least expect it. Each participant will receive a tire pressure gauge, auto safety notebook, and snack. This is a drop-off event. Adults are welcome to participate with event registration.
