The Mount Airy Main Street Association cordially invites you to join our membership as a show of support for your community and our historic downtown. A healthy viable downtown is crucial to preserving the heritage, economic health, and civic pride of our entire community. A healthy downtown retains and creates jobs, builds a strong tax base, and creates revenue to reinvest in our town. A prosperous downtown is a symbol of a caring community.
In 2004, due to the efforts of hard working volunteers, Mount Airy gained the esteemed designation of a ‘Maryland Main Street Community”. As you can plainly see, much has been accomplished in the last few years. The devastating fire Labor Day weekend 2007 was a major setback and could have had severe and negative consequences for our community. The Mount Airy Main Street Association and other organizations stepped up to work with the town, and in just one year, Main Street was back and better than ever.
We are proud of our contribution to the revitalization of Mount Airy and ask you to join us as we continue working to make Mount Airy a designation point for the residents and our friends in the surrounding communities. There is much more that can be done and you can help either financially or by volunteering or both. Your membership in the Mount Airy Main Street Association is important to our community.
