Tai Chi is a moving meditation developed in ancient China that utilizes gentle, slow and repetitive movements designed to increase flexibility, improve balance, body/mind strength, breathing, circulation and reduce stress. Current scientific research is demonstrating the importance of tai chi practice for the prevention of falls, relieving arthritis pain, and improving conditions related to low back pain. This class is modeled on the Yang Style 24, a Tai Chi Form that is suitable for participants of any ability level. Chairs are provided for those participants who cannot stand for 15 minutes at a time. This class is based on the beginning Yang Style Tai Chi Form, also known as the International Form, being the most widely practiced form of physical fitness in the world.
